New News! New News! New News!

I have begun my 300 Hour Training with Christina Sell. Christina Sell is a teacher located in San Marcos Texas. The majority of my training in the last year has been from her online courses and classes. She has been a direct influence on my training since August of 2011 when I was in my 200 HOUR Teacher Training. My direct teachers in yoga teacher training were learning from Christina Sell directly and passing those teachings on to me. I have since begun a direct training from Christina Sell in hopes to receive the information directly as opposed to second hand through other teachers.

In the next year not only will I be involved with a month by month online course that will take up all of my spare time, but I will also be taking part in seven weeks of five day intensive trainings with Christina Sell, Giaconda Parker and Sam Rice. I hope that when I have completed my Training in November 2015 there will be a noticeable difference in the way that I teach that will bring my students the most updated information in regards to form and flow styles of yoga.
I know that many of you will stay as my students for the next year and will be receiving the direct benefits of the training that I will be partaking in. Many of you may see changes occur that can possibly change the direction of your own practice. And for all that attend my classes you will be receiving directly the knowledge that I will be learning, so this will be a year of transformation for you too.

I am wishing us all luck during this time. And I am very very excited for you to receive these teachings as I am learning them. I am feeling inspired and enthusiastic for all of my students, my yogi peers taking this training with me, my teachers as they embark on bestowing their knowledge onto others and for myself. From November 2014 to November 2015 will be a year of intense and profound change that I’m ready for and happy to take my teaching to the next level so that I may be better service to you all.
In love and light, sending you all bright blessings for the new year! Happy Halloween! Be safe!

Animal Spirit Guide Meditation -Blog Joy Yoga

Animal Spirit Guide Meditation

By Melanie Comegys

Animal spirit guide meditation is used to meet a spirit guide from the animal world. The medicinal and spiritual energy each animal evokes helps its seeker to navigate their way through situations where they need healing or help.

There are several different types of animal spirit guides, and each archetype will have a different message, assignment or lesson for the seeker. The meditation is designed to bring the participant into knowing their animal spirit guide.

Find Your Animal Spirit Guide

Several types of animal spirits can come to you during the meditation, including:

The Messenger

The messenger animal spirit guide will come in quickly and leave once the message is understood.

The Shadow Animal

The shadow animal will sometimes cause fear in the participant as a test or to teach a specific lesson.

The Journey Guide

A journey guide will appear at a turning point in your life when a decision has to be made to follow one path or another and stay to guide you along the chosen path.

The Life Animal

A life animal guide will remain with you throughout your life and reflects your inner spirit.

What to Expect

For this type of meditation, we prepare the body through physical movement and deep spinal flexion. The cerebral spinal fluid will move and help heighten the senses, including smell, hearing, sight and taste, while stimulating swallowing, pupil dilation, perspiration, salivation, respiratory rate, digestion and heart rate. By moving the body, we exorcise excess energy out of our physical being and prepare the body for the state of rest that is needed for the journey. After exercise, it is imperative you have socks, blankets, jackets, pillows, eye masks or any other items that will help you remain comfortable and warm. Your body’s temperature will drop rapidly during this process of meditation.

During the meditation, your mind will be active but your body will feel as if it is asleep. Most people are surprised by what comes forward to them in their meditation, so expect the unexpected. Be curious about what you see. Remain the observer in the experience. The types of animals you may encounter during meditation may be recognizable, known or unknown, as well as specific to your personal journey and hold a special meaning just for you. You may also encounter an extinct or mythical, made up animal as your guide.

How to Interact

The analytical mind will try to pick apart the experience to make sense of what is happening. But to fully receive the benefits of this experience, it is important to remain open to the experience as it comes to you. Be respectful of the energies that are coming to you and grateful for the messages that are being brought to you. A message may come in the form of a feeling, thought or inner vision or aural stimulation. Be prepared to ask your animal spirit guide questions about specific life situations.

Effects of Meditation

Many people report residual experiences after this type of meditation. You may experience a dream in reference to your animal spirit. You might have a physical visitation from that animal. Pictures or symbols may suddenly start popping up in different areas of your life. You can possibly have a waking dream encounter while in a physical yoga practice.

Honoring Your Animal Spirit

There are several different ways that you can honor your animal spirit guide. You can wear jewelry and clothing illustrating your totem. Creating a decorative space with pictures and other memorabilia honoring your animal spirit guide can remind you of its messages for you. Educating yourself about your animal spirit’s life and habits or visiting its natural habitat can help you to stay connected to your guide. You might consider contributing your time and resources to protect its natural home. If you are the creative type, you can draw, paint or sculpt your animal spirit guide as a symbol of your experience.
